2013 is the 100th anniversary of the Longfellow House Trust, the organization formed by the children of Henry Longfellow for the preservation of his house. Celebrate this historic occasion with special, behind-the-scenes tours showing sections of the house generally off limits to the public. On August 29 and September 12, at 6pm we will open the doors to the research archives where you can join staff for an exclusive tour of the archival and museum collection areas. Again at 6pm on September 5 and September 19, join a park ranger for special house tours entitled Toilets, Closets, Attic, and Basement. Space is extremely limited for all of these tours. Please RSVP by calling (617) 876-4491. The series will be rounded out by the James M. Shea Lecture featuring renowned furniture conservator Robert Mussey on September 26 and special tours of Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters NHS on October 3 focusing on Alice Longfellow and the legacy that she left.
